Panic Disorder describes recurrent panic attacks and persistent concern about having future panic attacks or unhealthy changes in behavior due to panic attacks. A panic attack is an abrupt period of arousal with a feeling of fear or discomfort that peaks within minutes. These episodes involve both physical and cognitive symptoms.


The following are some symptoms of a panic attack:

  •      Heart racing or pounding
  •      Feeling short of breath
  •      Sweating
  •      Fear of losing control
  •      Fear of dying
  •      Nausea or abdominal discomfort
  •      Chest pain or discomfort
  •      Feeling dizzy
  •      Numbness or tingling sensation
