Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
The hallmark feature of GAD is excessive and persistent worry about a variety of things, including social and occupational matters. This worry is difficult to manage and present for at least several months.
The following are common symptoms associated with generalized anxiety:
- Excessive nervousness or anxiousness
- Unrealistic worry about bad things that might happen
- Restlessness or feeling keyed-up or on edge
- Changes in sleeping pattern
- Irritability
- Difficulty concentrating or "mind going blank"
- Becoming fatigued easily
- Muscle tension
